Baptism
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
Water baptism is an important step of commitment that demonstrates our decision to trust in Jesus and illustrates our connection with Him. We are always excited to hear people share their stories and witness them taking this step of obedience to Jesus.

Why Baptism?
Baptism is a public confession of oneās faith in Christ and a sign of oneās desire to be fully devoted to Him.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is an external symbol of the internal washing and renewal that takes place when one believes in Christ. In fact, we get our word baptism from the Greek word āBaptoā which means āto dipā or āto wash.āThe act of baptism further symbolizes oneās union with Christ by faith in his death, burial and resurrection. Baptisms are seen throughout the New Testament of the Bible, from Jesus, himself, to his multitude of followers.
Salvation and Baptism
The act of baptism does not save us, but it beautifully symbolizes the new life we receive when we believe the gospel. Salvation is only by the grace of God through faith, not by human works of any kind.
In order to experience Godās gift of salvation, we must,
ā¢Believe that Jesus died for our sins
ā¢Acknowledge that we are guilty of sin as our substitute and rose again
ā¢Trust Jesus, alone, as our Savior from sin
ā¢Believe that Jesus died for our sins
ā¢Acknowledge that we are guilty of sin as our substitute and rose again
ā¢Trust Jesus, alone, as our Savior from sin
Once we are saved, we are permanently adopted into Godās family and are forever secure as His children.
How We Baptize
Based on Biblical evidence, as well as historical tradition, we practice baptism by full immersion in water. Our pastors will be happy to speak with you regarding other modes if full immersion isn't an option for you.
Getting Started
Once you declare your belief in Jesus Christ, you are ready to be baptized. At Davisville we offer this opportunity several times a year during our Sunday morning services and in the summer at our annual picnic at Maplewood Swim Club. Please complete the form below to let us know you are interested in being baptized. One of our pastors will schedule a time to meet with you to discuss your decision and to ensure you have a clear understanding of the significance of baptism.
On the date of your baptism you will publicly share a bit about your spiritual journey before being baptized.
